Dad's Chili

Dad's Chili

Another camping favorite my dad would make a large batch of chili and freeze it. OK so this one really is a guess as its hard to know what this old piece of paper means. My dad had a tendency to not write everything down, not use a recipe, or change things. I made a batch, and this is my best guess. For this recipe It only seemed fitting to use our old camping pot and dishes.

Ingredients
1 onion diced
3/4 lb red or pinto beans
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbls garlic powder
2 Tbls Chili powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1-15oz can tomato sauce
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tbl sugar
1/2 tsp paprika
salt and pepper to taste
Soak Beans overnight in water.
Next day cook the beans in a pot until tender
Cook the ground beef in a separate skillet breaking it up, add all of the seasonings to the ground beef then the onion.
Add Ground beef and the can of tomato sauce to the beans
Simmer until thickened up and serve with sour cream cream, shredded cheddar cheese and more diced onion.
